This recipe dates back to my teenage years! It seemed every Sunday, our Sunday School teacher would bring these to class. They quickly became our favorite!! These Congo Bars (not even sure why they are called that) are much faster to bake up than chocolate chip cookies, so I usually make these if I am asked to bring “cookies or dessert”. We hope you love them!!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter, melted
2 1/4 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cup flour
2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package (12-oz) semi – sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
With a hand mixer, in a large bowl, beat the melted butter and brown sugar. Add the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla. Beat well.
Beat in dry ingredients until just blended.
Beat in chocolate chips.
Spread in a greased baking sheet (13″ x 18″)
Bake for 20 minutes.
